Protect function. Preserve dignity.
ALS can progress quickly, so timing matters. Our in-home therapy focuses on safety, mobility, and independence at every stage, with practical equipment guidance and support for caregivers.
What is ALS?
ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, is a progressive neurological disease that affects the motor neurons in the brain and spinal cord. As these neurons deteriorate, the brain gradually loses its ability to signal the muscles.
The result is progressive muscle weakness and growing mobility challenges. Therapy can't stop that progression, but it can make each stage safer, more comfortable, and more independent.
Common symptoms & challenges.
- Muscle weakness in the hands, arms, legs, or speech
- Difficulty walking and increased fall risk from atrophy
- Muscle cramps and twitching
- Speech and swallowing difficulties
- Breathing difficulties as respiratory muscles weaken
- Loss of fine motor skills
How exercise & therapy can help.
Because ALS can progress rapidly, our care prioritizes safety, comfort, and independence at every stage. Therapy focuses on:
- Fall prevention & balance training.
- Gait training & mobility support.
- Postural control & core strength to support breathing.
- Assistive-device training for walkers, canes, and wheelchairs.
- Referral to swallowing & speech support when needed.
- Adaptive strategies for daily activities.
