Getting started

Do I need a referral from my doctor?

No. You can call us directly and we'll get started without waiting on a physician referral. We'll handle the coordination with your provider.

That said, if you already have a referral or a prescription, have it available. It helps us coordinate with your medical team.

Do you take insurance?

For our in-home physical therapy and occupational therapy services, we accept Medicare and most major insurance plans. Our team will verify your benefits before your first visit and walk you through what's covered.

We also offer private pay for physical therapy and occupational therapy, so you can be seen even if you're out of network, between insurances, or simply prefer to pay directly. Our wellness services (private fitness, group fitness, group education) are self-pay as well.

How quickly can I get started?

We respond to inquiries within one business day. Once we've verified your insurance and scheduled, most patients begin within one to two weeks. We can often move faster after a hospital discharge or for urgent situations.

I'm not sure if I need therapy. Can we just talk?

Yes. A private consultation is a one-time visit where we assess the situation and give you a clear picture of what's possible. There's no commitment to ongoing care.

It's especially useful after a new diagnosis, before a major surgery, or if a loved one's function has changed and you're not sure what to do.

Which insurance plans do you accept?

We accept Original Medicare and most major commercial insurance plans for in-home physical therapy and occupational therapy. Call us with your insurance card handy and we'll verify your specific benefits.

Will I have a copay?

It depends on your plan. We verify benefits before your first visit so there are no surprises. If there's a copay or deductible, you'll know about it up front.

What if I don't have insurance? Or I've used up my visits?

No problem. We offer private pay for in-home physical therapy and occupational therapy, so you can keep getting skilled care even without insurance or after you've used up your covered visits.

Our wellness services are also self-pay and built for people who want to keep working on their function for the long arc of recovery. Options include in-home private fitness, virtual private fitness, group fitness classes, and our online exercise programs.

What to expect

What to expect

What happens in the first visit?

A comprehensive evaluation. Your clinician will spend time understanding your history, your diagnosis, what you can do, what you want to do, and what's getting in the way. They'll assess strength, balance, gait, and functional mobility.

By the end, you'll have a clear plan and answers to your questions.

How long are sessions and how often will we meet?

Sessions are typically 60 minutes or longer. Frequency varies based on your goals and condition. Most patients start with one to three sessions per week and we adjust from there.

Do I need to prepare anything in my home?

Just a chair you can sit in and stand from, and enough open space to take a few steps. We bring everything else we need. We'll work with whatever space you have.

Can my caregiver or family be involved?

Absolutely encouraged. Caregiver education is built into our care. They'll learn how to safely assist, what to watch for, and how to keep the gains going between sessions.

Where do you serve?

The Triangle, NC area and the Jacksonville, FL area. In North Carolina that includes Wake, Durham, Orange, and Chatham counties: Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Cary, Carrboro, Hillsborough, Apex, Morrisville, Pittsboro, and the surrounding communities. In Florida we serve Duval and St. Johns counties: Jacksonville, the Beaches, Ponte Vedra, Nocatee, and St. Augustine. See the full list of areas.

If you're outside those areas, ask. We make exceptions when we can. Or look into our online exercise programs and virtual fitness sessions, which work nationwide.

Do you visit assisted living, independent living, and memory care facilities?

Yes. We visit assisted living facilities, independent living communities, and memory care. Our care is supplemental in those settings. We coordinate with facility staff and complement the care your loved one already receives.

What if I'm not in the Triangle or Jacksonville?

Our online exercise programs and virtual private fitness sessions are available anywhere. Many of our patients outside North Carolina use these as their primary connection to neurologic-specific exercise.
